Tête-à-tête with Vaibhav Sisinty, Marketing Manager at Uber

UrbanDart has run campaigns for Uber in India and we have worked closely with Vaibhav Sisinty on for the success of these campaigns. Vaibhav leads Marketing and Partnerships for Uber in the Andhra and Telangana regions in India. He also spearheads Uber’s India Expansion and has helped them grow in other cities. Uber is a global ride sharing service for fast and reliable rides in minutes-day or night. Uber is available in more than 600 cities worldwide and has changed the way people commute in these cities. The eight year old company has sky rocketed to become the highest valued private startup company in the world today. The gig economy is exploding everywhere and Uber lies at the heart of it. Although Uber employs just over 7000 people, it empowers millions of drivers and riders each day! We enjoy working with Vaibhav and his energetic team. He is a powerhouse of innovation and creativity. He decided to startup at 19 and has not looked back since then. He ran an award-winning design agency for three years and his work has been recognized by multiple entities and media houses. We asked Vaibhav about his work, life, sales, gig economy and his experience of working with UrbanDart, and here is what he had to say:

Tell us a little bit about your background. Where do you come from and what did you study?

I hail from Berhampur in Orissa. I come from a humble middle class family. My father is a banker and my brother is a financial consultant. My mother is a home maker. I spent the whole of my childhood in Berhampur and have some amazing friends and memories that will last me a lifetime. I studied Bachelors of Technology from GITAM University in Vishakhapatnam. Thereafter, I founded a startup called CrazyHeads which was a design agency for websites, animated explainers and logos.

What is your designation at Uber? You have a lot of responsibility at Uber. What does a typical day look like for you?

I am the Marketing Manager for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for Uber. I take care of marketing and partnerships for Uber in this region. A typical day at Uber is full of energy and productivity. The office culture here is amazing. I get to work everyday with some amazing co — workers. Each of whom have their own perspectives and views. The diversity of thought helps tremendously in problem solving and handling difficult situations. I crack partnerships daily, bridging up partnerships with different brands which mutually benefit each other. Through my marketing campaigns, I play a crucial role in bringing up the numbers in the city and engaging the riders and drivers in AP and Telangana.

I am impressed with Team UrbanDart’ s problem solving abilities and approach

How and why did you get started with UrbanDart?

Well, I have always been fond of startups and that made me approach UrbanDart. Startups are much more efficient and hardworking in comparison with well-established organizations. UrbanDart’ s presence in the sales domain is another reason we decided to approach. The team at UrbanDart is very efficient and productive. The team has dealt with the business challenges we presented in a mature and innovative way. I am impressed with Team UrbanDart’ s problem solving abilities and approach.

What advice would you give a new ambassador who is interested in working for your campaign.

The hours you work doesn’t matter to us unless you give us consistent results. At Uber, the work that you will encounter will be challenging and enduring. One can find the work good over here if he/she has an optimistic and positive outlook.

It feels like a convenience tool when you work along with a team like UrbanDart

How has your experience been with UrbanDart been so far?

UrbanDart has been good at solving ambassador issues that we have been facing for the past couple of months. It feels like a convenience tool when you work along with a team like UrbanDart. As they say, “A green chili is small, but does wonders when eaten”. Similarly, although UrbanDart has a small team, when given the right input, they are a work horse.

What do you think is the most important trait in a sales person?

Sell what people need now, not what people want. Explore the need of the hour and grab the perfect opportunity. Time is money.

What’s your best career advice for young people today?

Let go of fear. If you want to achieve the bigger things in life, start by solving your smaller day to day issues. Your day to day habits are eventually going to make you successful. It is great to have a long-term goal, but it is not right if you are not planning the next step to achieve that long term goal. Setbacks are normal for everyone, literally everyone. Keep working hard.

Let go of fear. Keep working hard

If someone called you and asked you,” Why should I partner with UrbanDart”. What would you tell them?

They listen well. The team tries to perceive things exactly how we want in a surprisingly short span of time. Like I already mentioned, they have good operational skills and so if your organization is lacking a bit in operations, these are the go-to guys.

OK, last question: tell us two fun facts about you

  • I would have a Pizza with a chilled beer at any time of the day!
  • My home is fully voice automated. Yes, like Iron Man!
